Although today is our day off we were heading into to town to do some shopping and stopped at the I'on trail to fix one one of the signs from Thurs that needed to be secured.
When we got back to the campground there was a flurry of activity. The oyster roast had already begun, Oysters, white rice, lima beans, chicken perlow, chips, cheese, potato salad and I brought 2 bite chocolate and vanilla cupcakes. Oh and giant marshmellows! it was great fun with the "old" folks. we had some "Kids" come in to tent camp and they came too. the weather was about 50 deg, sunny but windy. the kids took the dog and went to the water to "Paddle Boarding". all the old folks were worried as the water was cold and they did not have wet suits on.
see the dog on the board?
Friends of the campers came by for the roast, told lots of stories, some true some we suspect are not so true.. 2 sets of tent campers came in (it was 25 deg last night!). One young man wanted to camp but he "accidently" spent his $15 on gas so Daddy was coming with money, could he set up camp before it gets dark? how do you accidently spend money on gas?? of course he can set up, Daddy came about 30 minutes later to the rescue. 3 more campers came in looking for a spot for the night. It was hard to keep in the party mood with all the activity at the camp board!
After starting a fire at our site, (the wind died down) and looking at the stars we headed inside. Eric spent the rest of the night eating shelled peanuts, drinking beer, watching football with the TV muted and listening to Honkey Tonk out of Reserve Wis! he was in heaven.. life can not get any better.
our "old folks" are leaving today and will not return until March 1. we will be gone by then. we really enjoyed their company and will miss them.
