We met up with Ray on Thursday evening first we headed for drinks ($2 vodka) and cheese and wine at his hotel then we went for dinner at Magnolias..
I had the Shellfish over Grits sautéed shrimp, sea scallops and lobster over creamy white grits with lobster butter sauce, and fried spinach. Eric had Parmesan Crusted Flounder over jasmine rice and creek shrimp pirloo with sweet corn, tomato, and asparagus salad, lump crab, and a lemon beurre blanc. and Ray had Blackened Catfish over Carolina dirty rice with fried green tomatoes, habañero chutney and tomato butter. It was a delightful dinner...
Charleston is pretty easy to walk so thats what we did. it was a bit cool but not bad for walking. Friday was not too bad, it was cool and windy by the water. we met at the Aquarium. great place. plus indoors.. we walked a bit around town before heading to the Old Towne Grill and Seafood. Ray and I had the slow roasted chicken and gyro platter (wonderful) Eric had the grilled chicken livers... (I know what about sea food??) it was a Greek restaurant so we went greek.
we did some more walking and shopping. we found the River Street Sweets candy store in Charleston. we had gone to the one in Savannah, tasted but did not buy the fudge pralines. (big mistake) but we were able to get some in Charleston. very good. we were going to make a special trip to Savannah to get some but now we know we can get them in Charleston.
we met up for drinks (after a nap) at the Gin Joint.. Great place for wonderful drinks. this place was near Ray's so Eric and I took the trolley to the area. after a couple of fantastic drinks, we headed to the Fleet Landing Resturant for oysters, shrimp, flounder,
Saturday it rained all day. it was warm about 60 deg. Ray picked me up at our hotel then we headed into Mount Pleasant for lunch, shrimp, oysters and flounder.. after lunch we went to the movies to see "The Kings Speech". It was very good but no popcorn since we just ate lunch. We then went to the campground for a visit before dinner at a local place. steamed clams (delightful), green fried tomatoes (very good), smoked tuna dip (we just got a taste but it was very good), grilled shrimp, pimento cheese burger (very very good) and Buffalo Shrimp.
Ray stayed with us in the RV on Sat night then headed home on Sunday. beautiful morning on the intercoastal.
Sunday evening... brats, cheese, and beer.. while watching the pack...
