Meet me in St Louie, Louie!

We left Wolf creek at 8:50.  After awaking to a temp of 25 deg F. The camper stayed warm throughout the night, but the furnace was on more and longer than ever before. The drive to St Louis was good, traffic was not too heavy, no wind and sunny. We arrived at Pere Marquette at 12:20 driving 162 miles. The temperature was 58.  This park has about 60 of 80 sites occupied!  Wolf Creek had about 6 when we got there and about 18 when we left.  The further south we go the fuller the campgrounds are…   We took the scenic drive in the park before heading to St Louis. The trees still have leaves on them, and very colorful.  We headed towards  the Arch area, stopping at the Great Rivers Museum and Lock and Dam #26 in Alton Il.  Since we had toured Lock and Dam #1 in Minneapolis so many times we did not tour this one. Next stop was the tower at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. We finally made it to the Arch but it was already sold out for the day. We bought tickets for Sunday. There is a great exhibit called the museum of Westward Expansion in the building. It explained the opening of the west from1800 until 1900.  We had dinner at Smoking Joe’s then back for a campfire. Had a great  beer, Schalafly that is locally made.
